Located in Chelmsford, MA, Melissa “Blue” Amrich has a passion for two things in life - animals and art. Blue grew up surrounded by a menagerie of the furred, feathered, finned and scaled and can’t imagine life any other way. From horseback riding lessons to walking the neighborhood dogs after school, Blue has always had an animal companion by her side.
Before becoming a photographer, Blue worked at a veterinary clinic which allowed her to interact with a large variety of animals. She strongly believes that understanding animals and their behavior is an important aspect of pet photography. That and plenty of patience!
Blue's photography career started out in wedding photography, but she quickly realized that she missed working with pets. There's nothing better than a wagging tail to brighten your day! Her passion for portraits comes from the ability to capture an important moment in time. Through her photography, Blue strives to celebrate the joy our pets bring us each and every day.
Currently, Blue shares her life with an Australian Shepherd, a parakeet, a ball python, and six crested geckos. Blue adopted her Aussie, Iris, from the NHSPCA four years ago. Now Iris is a constant source of inspiration and has turned into quite the little diva giving Blue many opportunities to practice her photography skills.
