I have to admit, I had a lot of fun with this week’s 52 on Friday theme. The assignment was to take a song title and then illustrate that title through a photo. While looking for a song, I can across a poem by Josh Hansen, called Song for a Gecko. The poem is about a gecko who set sail to seek his destiny, and I loved it immediately. You should really go check it out (and the rest of Josh Hansen’s poems as well). I know it’s a poem instead of a song, but I figured no one would mind if I stretched the theme a little. Especially since that means you get to see some photos of my favorite little guy.

Isn’t little Arlan a great model? He was such a good boy. It’s tough to tell in the photos, but he’s so tiny. He weighs a little less than 5 grams. That’s smaller than a quarter! He’s still a baby – when he’s an adult, he’ll weigh closer to 45g.

Ready to see what songs the rest of the Project 52 group chose to illustrate? Start by checking out Nashville Pet Photographer, Kelly Coyle, to see what Kelly came up with for this week. Keep following the links in all the blog posts to see everyone’s photographs, and then you will end up right back here.

Wow! Arian is adorable, and such a good little model. Great take on the theme ;)
So amazing!!
Ha!! That is AWESOME. :)
he is sooo cute! I love these pictures!
I think this is my favourite post this week! I LOVE Arlan! He’s so cute! And what a trooper for posing for you. I’m so glad you chose the poem (which really, a song is anyhow, without the music).
How unique and what a great subject for this week’s theme!
Love him on the boat and your interpretation of the theme!
Cute! What are these funny little props he’s on? Are they his props?
Steph, I got lucky! I happened to already have a miniature pirate ship that I’d built for a completely unrelated project. By chance, it was the prefect size for a baby gecko (originally I tried putting an adult gecko on the ship, but Thor looked more like a sea monster than a sailor). I was looking for a song for this week’s theme, came across the poem, and loved it. I was just lucky that I already had all the props I needed!
so perfect, I love their little feet!
This is awesome! The images tell such a story!
